Hellam Varon welcomed Neil to the firm in 1985. Since then, he has done just about everything there is to do in a local CPA firm. From dealing with taxes and audits, individuals, high net worth families, closely held businesses, and tax implications of foreign activities to chairing the taxation committee for the WSCPA, there’s not much in the accounting world he hasn’t seen. Today as a shareholder, Neil specializes in all forms of business taxation, business growth and succession consulting, late-stage business planning, entity decisions, and international tax strategies and compliance. He serves clients in a variety of industries including manufacturing, wholesale, construction, professional services, and a personal passion—wineries. 

Over the years, Neil has accumulated a depth of knowledge and experience allowing him to excel in his advisory work with the firm’s clients and their business and financial needs. His favorite part of the role is getting to know clients, understanding their challenges and goals, and helping them meet their objectives. 

Outside of the office, Neil loves to travel both locally and internationally with his wife, Carolee. Their latest ventures involve trips in their RV visiting Northwest wine growing regions. He is quite the wine enthusiast and pays special attention to Washington State wines. Having grown up in La Conner and as a lifetime Washingtonian, Neil has lots of Washington state pride and can be counted on to support the Mariners, Sounders, Seahawks and OL Reign football club. He also enjoys music and has an extensive collection of music in LP, CD, and other formats.
