Karen Tavenner

When Karen joined Hellam Varon in 2019, she brought 35 years of experience providing bookkeeping and cost accounting services both in private industry and with her own bookkeeping services firm. Today, as part of our business support services group, Karen provides our clients with all necessary bookkeeping, state and city excise tax return preparation, payroll tax preparation, year‐end accounting review of books for federal tax preparation, and assistance with any QuickBooks questions. Her specialties are in small business accounting, construction cost accounting, and attorney trust accounting. Karen’s clients span a wide range of industries including consulting, construction, law, and retail businesses.

Karen’s background in industry and accounting makes her a natural advisor for our business clients, and her own experience being self-employed for ten years gives her special insight into management challenges. Helping clients navigate the challenging aspects of business accounting and providing them with the tools to address their business needs is her favorite part of the job. She also loves the camaraderie in the firm and the support everyone gives each other.

Karen and her family live on the eastside at the foothills of the Cascades. She enjoys the tranquility and beauty the foothills afford. Karen is one of those rare folks who was born and raised in Western Washington and loves the fact she could raise her daughter in Washington.
