Doug Reardon joined Hellam Varon in 2009 but has been in the accounting game since 1991. He admits, though, that he has found his "accounting home". He values the cohesion of the work environment at the firm and almost seems surprised by the atmosphere he finds around the office. "Everybody seems to get along," he says. "And they actually like each other! I really enjoy how everyone works together." He also has great respect for the level of knowledge among the shareholders and staff. "The firm has really assembled a sharp group of people!" he comments.
Doug's background includes audit, accounting and tax, specializing in work with closely held businesses. Currently, he focuses entirely on tax compliance and tax planning with clients. Having also spent time in private industry, Doug is one of those rare accountants who can blend his technical background with hands-on experience working in a company. This gives him a well-rounded perspective with his clients.
In 1994 Doug moved to Washington State from his home state of South Carolina and was immediately drawn to the myriad of outdoor activities. When he's away from the office he likes to travel, especially for Seahawks road games or destinations involving sun and sand, fishing, and seeing live concerts and comedians. Doug has fulfilled one of the items on his bucket list, an Alaskan fishing trip, complete with the salmon and halibut to prove it! The thing that lights up his face most is music, particularly concerts of the 1980's heavy metal genre. In one year, Doug indulged his Metallica passion, attending six of their concerts on the band's tour. Now that's some serious dedication!
