When Fiona Chan joined Hellam Varon in 2017, she was looking for a firm that was large enough to provide a variety of work and learning opportunities and yet small enough to be collaborative and friendly. It was our good fortune she found what she was looking for at Hellam Varon! Fiona has a passion for creating solutions for clients. “Every client is different, so I’m constantly learning new things. Accounting is a lifetime of learning”, she says.
After nearly 12 years in the accounting profession, which has included experience with audits and reviewed financial statements, QuickBooks accounting, and preparation of federal and multi-state corporate tax returns, Fiona now focuses exclusively on tax planning and compliance. She enjoys the opportunity Hellam Varon provides to work on business returns, as well as international taxation, and estate and trust tax work. The variety is challenging and interesting for Fiona, who combines a curious mind and hard work with a naturally effervescent personality.
When she is not tackling complex business taxes for a client, Fiona spends her free time hiking, cross country skiing or experimenting with a new recipe in the kitchen. She admits to being a creative person, a trait that also helps her find answers to clients’ problems. Like many of our folks, Fiona and her husband enjoy travelling and have explored Germany, Hawaii, Alaska, and Montana.
We are so glad Fiona chose to set down roots here. Her warmth and enthusiasm have already endeared her to the Hellam Varon family!
