When Emily Zhao joned Hellam Varon in early 2016, she brought with her a background that began on the other side of the world. From her home town of Jinzhou in northeast China, Emily travelled to the Hong Kong Polytechnic University for her Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and then to the University of South Carolina to complete her Masters in Accounting in 2012. She spent her first two years in accounting working for a firm in South Carolina, where she focused on individual tax returns, specializing in helping U.S. citizens living and working overseas with their tax issues.
Emily might have come by her interest in accounting naturally. She enjoys the problem solving aspects of tax and helping clients save money. Of the firm, Emily says, "Hellam Varon feels different than other accounting firms. And I like how friendly everyone is." Even shortly after starting here, Emily already felt like a part of our Hellam Varon fabric!
After work, Emily enjoys a game or two of badminton with her husband at the Bellevue Badminton Club or swimming to stay in shape. She is soft-spoken, thoughtful and definitely a hard worker. We feel like we hit the jackpot when Emily chose Hellam Varon for her accounting home!
