Bob Thompson brings nearly 50 years of high level consulting and accounting expertise to his clients.  Over the years he has developed his practice to include financial, tax and overall business assistance and advice with a focus on clients in professional services, transportation and construction.  Bob has a passion for analyzing complex data and summarizing it into an easily understandable form for his clients or anyone who is a non-accountant.  He is clear when he talks about his philosophy on serving clients. “I want to save all the money I can for my clients and to help them have peace of mind.”

Initially drawn to accounting because of the emphasis on attention to detail and problem solving, Bob continues to find the work anything but boring.  He is enthusiastic about helping his clients lead simpler, less-stressed lives by absorbing the frustrations of complex accounting or tax issues on the clients’ behalf.  “The first rule of a professional accounting practice is that nobody is in a rush for the wrong answer”, he comments. Bob finds a common passion among the staff and shareholders of Hellam Varon.  Since joining the firm in 2011, Bob has been impressed with the relationships and support fostered both internally and with clients.  “It’s the people and the relationships that brought me to Hellam Varon.”  He feels right at home!

Originally born and raised in Denver, Colorado, Bob eventually found his way to Washington State after meeting his wife of 50 plus years on a blind date.  She was from Lynden, WA.  Bob and his wife enjoy spending time with their four children and their families.  When asked about his two grandchildren, Bob reserves a special smile and admits there’s nothing better!
